Girl Scouts donate toys to needy kids (The Sun)

Christmas is a time for giving.

Adults know this.

Some children do, too.

But somehow, when children give, it’s even more touching.

That they’ve gotten the message and given from their young hearts is a meaningful and emotional thing.

So when I learned about Girl Scouts donating toys to Children’s Fund for less fortunate children, I was enthusiastic and wanted to talk to these philanthropic young ladies.

It was a perfect “kids helping kids.”

And sure enough, that was the theme of this second annual partnership between the San Gorgonio Girl Scouts Council and the Children’s Fund Celebration of Giving Campaign, “Kids Helping Kids.”

Girl Scouts donated a toy and held a toy drive as a group, earning a patch for their tunic, sash or vest.

On Thursday, when the girls delivered a batch of 60 toys to the HSS warehouse, they were treated to cookies and a cup of hot chocolate.

Everyone was happy as three shopping carts of gifts for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 were sorted by age and gender in the San Bernardino County Department of Human Services warehouse, loaned to Children’s Fund for the annual Celebration of Giving Campaign, now in its 26th year….
