The Academy for Grassroots Organizations recently honored our President and CEO Cynthia H. Breunig with the 2014 Academy Award for Nonprofit Excellence as Executive Director of the Year!
Cynthia was given this honor at the Academy’s annual luncheon on October 3 at the Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville.
Guests included many of Academy’s Leadership Circle members, elected officials and representatives from throughout San Bernardino County, and dozens of staff members and volunteers from nonprofit agencies that are members of the Academy.
The award citation described her accomplishments helping Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council grow its membership, strengthen its financial condition and embrace a strategy of diversity and inclusiveness (which led to our issue of a 3-year charter from GSUSA!). Women in leadership taught teenage girls the difference between being a good leader and being bossy during the Ban Bossy Girls in Leadership event at the Jack Bulik Teen Center in Fontana.
