YOUR COUNCIL: Get to know your new VP of GSSGC – Elizabeth Locke-Thomas!

Elizabeth Locke-Thomas – Executive Vice President of Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council

e1It gives us great pleasure to announce the promotion of Elizabeth Locke-Thomas to Executive Vice President of Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council!

Elizabeth brings boundless energy and enthusiasm for the work of Girl Scouts to every task she tackles.  She leads from the front and her love for the girls is contagious.  Her success deploying staff, volunteers and girls to reach for their dreams and accomplish even the most challenging goal confirms our assessment that she is the right choice to be the Executive Vice President.

Elizabeth Locke-Thomas joined GSSGC as Director of Product Sales six years ago and was subsequently promoted to Vice President of Product Sales and Retail.  As a Girl Scout volunteer, she was a troop leader of 21 girls and Leader of the Year, and a volunteer member of the product sales team for Murrieta. The product and retail sales departments have flourished under her leadership.

IMG_5959Elizabeth embraces the true Girl Scout experience, where girls experience priceless adventures and develop the five skills that are critical for life success.

As a young woman Elizabeth served as a volunteer with the Israel Defense Forces.  She is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, with a Degree in Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts, and has served on several task forces for Girl Scouts of the USA.

318287_4999854786890_370169539_nA hospitality professional with 30 plus years of experience, Elizabeth was director of food and beverage for AAA rated Four Diamond properties and, at 24 years of age, the youngest female food and beverage manager in San Diego.  She owned her own successful catering business and restaurant.  Along the way, she created two nationally marketed products—a vanilla extreme iced coffee beverage and a pasta salad dressing—that were featured in Gourmet and Bon Appetit magazines.

Elizabeth was recently honored as a Woman of Distinction at a dinner hosted by Senator Mike Morrell and earlier this year was named Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women.

Elizabeth is a single parent of three children.  Daughter Emma, well known at GSSGC for her service work in Girl Scouts, will be entering her senior year in high school and has already been accepted to Full Sail University, a school specializing in education for the entertainment and media industries.  Her two sons, Eron (11) and Eian (12), are young experts in gaming and Eian is also a computer programmer.

e3Having seen from first-hand experience with Emma, the life changing potential of the camp experience, Elizabeth is excited about bucking the national trend to close Girl Scout camps and instead investing more time, energy and resources in our outdoor programs and facilities.

We know everyone at Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio will join us in offering Elizabeth their support and congratulations!
