Think you’ve had a busy day? Well, check out what Low Desert Girl Scout Troops 74 and 1744 accomplished in a single day!
The Girl Scouts began their day at Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs. There, they met two nurses from the Emergency Room who took them on hospital tour. The girls learned more about how the CT Scanner, MRI machine, and radiology department work. An ambulance stopped by for the girls to interact with before the ER nurses conducted a first aid overview. Finally, the troops made first aid kits with the nurses.
But that’s not all!

Nope, after touring the hospital (and earning their First Aid badges) Troop 1744 and 77 made their way over to California Pizza Kitchen in Palm Desert.
Boy, were they hungry… hungry to learn! The girls were given a backstage tour of the kitchen where they got to create their very own specialty pizza. The kitchen’s chef personally gave them a demonstration in tossing dough.
After lunch (and learning about the restaurant industry) the girls still weren’t ready to go home. Instead, they paid a visit to the Palm Springs City Hall. Troops 74 and 1744 were honored to conduct a flag ceremony and lead the Pledge of Allegiance for the City Hall meeting. Afterwards, the Girl Scouts met City Council Members.
Can you believe they did all this in a single day? Way to go girls! You’ve shown us what the spirit of Take Action is all about. And kudos to Juanita Rios, Leader of Troop 1744, and Elda Newton, Leader for Troop 74.
