How cool are you? Calling all Corona and Riverside Girl Scouts! Registration deadline is May 30

Girl Scout volunteer and mom  Claire Jefferson-Glipa shared the episode above of The Mayor’s Message with us. In it, City of Corona Mayor Karen Spiegel interviews Department of Water and Power’s Melinda Weinrich regarding the Cool California City Challenge.

How cool is your city?

That’s the question, and challenge, being put to residents of Corona and Riverside, two cities participating in the Cool California City Challenge.

Cool California’s goal is to, “provide resources to all Californians so they can take action, reduce their environmental impact, and be part of the climate change solution.” Sounds like a Girl Scout challenge to us!

The Cool California City Challenge is a statewide competition engaging thousands of households in cities across California to save energy, reduce their carbon footprints and help build more vibrant and sustainable communities.

Register by May 30!

Visit Cool California Challenge on Coronadwp.org  to register. Registration is only open until MAY 30! So don’t wait!

Last year, Davis won the title of Coolest California City in 2013.

Participating 2014 CoolCalifornia City Challenge Cities are: Arcata, Burlingame, Claremont, Corona, Chula Vista, Long Beach, Lynwood, Mission Viejo, Rancho Cucamonga, and Riverside.

The winning city will be awarded up to $50,000 to fund community projects. Imagine if we Girl Scouts help our city to win – that’s a lot of Take Action projects that could be supported!

Good luck and we’d love any updates you want to share.
